Continued Discussions and one TA!
We met with Kaiser Permanente on Friday, June 20 to continue negotiations on our pharmacy contract. We had more discussions on our economic proposals, including increases for employees who have translation responsibilities, longevity pay to honor workers for their dedication to KP, and hazard pay for all of us who work in highly dangerous environments.
We also discussed an inpatient pharmacy technician differential, as well as a differential for anyone performing ambulatory oncology work, so they receive an increase for hours worked. We also spent time discussing options to streamline our grievance procedure, including a mediation step that will provide more guidance before escalating to arbitration.
We ended the day by reaching a tentative agreement with the company on the vacation scheduling period.
It was not all good news, though. We discussed bereavement leave, and the company wants to take away our ability to support our spouses/partners when their family passes away. This is unacceptable, and we will continue to work to ensure we can support our families no matter what they look like.
We will return to the bargaining table with KP locally on July 18, 2025, to discuss our pharmacy contract further. Meanwhile, continue to wear your gold shirts and take photos with our One Voice, One Future campaign signs!
