KP Shows Little Interest in Solving Work/Life Balance

On Tuesday, we met with Kaiser Permanente for our fourth day of bargaining on our pharmacy contract.

Despite work/life balance being one of our key priorities, management rejected our proposals to increase holidays and personal time off, as well as our proposal for automatic cash-outs—ensuring hardworking members are paid what they’re owed when they reach maximum accrual, without needing to request it.

Management also proposed creating an on-call job status, claiming it would allow more time off to be granted. However, we already have strong staffing language in place, so we will further explore whether any additional benefits exist in their proposal.

One bright spot in negotiations was reaching a tentative agreement to convene discussions on developing a career pathway for outpatient members to receive the training needed to qualify for inpatient positions.

We will meet with KP again on Friday, June 13. In the meantime, we must show Kaiser that we’re standing strong in pursuit of the contract we deserve. Here’s how you can stay engaged:
