Kaiser Management is Slow and Steady, but Not Yet Ready
KP needs to respond to our outstanding issues
On Friday we met with Kaiser Permanente for our fourth day of bargaining on our CLS/MLT contract. We started the day by reminding KP why we’re here, and revisiting our core mindset of improving our morale and work/life balance, staffing for operational efficiency, and maintaining an available and committed workforce to continue to deliver quality care to our communities.
They were very resistant to working with us on our shared interest in maintaining a committed, stable workforce when it comes to the overwhelming number of per diems at some of our facilities compared to full-time or part-time employees.
KP also wasn’t ready to commit to putting state law regarding overtime into the contract, or to respond to our many non-economic proposals around classification seniority, PTO, the corrective action process, part-time conversion, or streamlining the grievance process that have been in their court since last month.
We made it clear we expect them to have answers to our non-economic proposals when we meet again on May 28.
