KP CLS/MLT Bargaining Update #6

Bargaining Is an Uphill Battle

We met with Kaiser Permanente on Wednesday, July 23, and again on Tuesday, July 29 to continue negotiations on our CLS/MLT contract.

We had productive conversations about the importance of work-life balance and the need for personal holiday observance. As dedicated healthcare professionals, we deserve the time to celebrate meaningful cultural and personal holidays. Kaiser promotes “thriving” and takes pride in its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Now it’s time they live up to that promise by supporting our right to cultural expression.

We also made progress in discussions around the use of per diem employees. While we’re not there yet, we’re getting closer to a solution that both improves staffing for Kaiser and provides necessary protections for per diem workers.

Our next bargaining sessions are scheduled for Monday, August 11, and Tuesday, August 12. These are the final sessions currently on the calendar, and Kaiser needs to come prepared to make real movement. We’ve been at the table since April—it’s time for a deal we can confidently recommend.

We did reach a tentative agreement to strengthen the commitment of new hires, which is a positive step forward. But many key issues remain unresolved. Bargaining has been an uphill battle—but we’re nearing the summit.

Keep the momentum going: wear your gold, take photos with our campaign signs, and continue showing KP the power of our unity.
