Mighty Members of UFCW Local 135 –
This past Monday through Wednesday you, and other Locals throughout Southern California, voted overwhelmingly in favor of ratifying the contract proposal offered by Albertsons, Ralphs and Vons.
The contract you approved included wage increases, continued access to affordable and quality healthcare while keeping healthy reserve funds, a fully funded and maintained pension, and other much needed additions.
We want to thank all of the members that came out to vote in San Diego and at the second location in North County. We would also like to thank all of our members and our allies in labor and the community that helped us engage customers during our ten day mobilization actions. Together we achieved this contract. And together we will continue to build the necessary unity between labor and community that will help us in future negotiations.
This contract struggle may be over for now but we can’t let the fire created flame out. We must continue mobilizing our fellow members and get them involved in our union’s activities. Keep that fire burning because our union is only as strong as our membership. And if our membership is unified and ready to take action then nothing can stop us.
