Please join UFCW Local 135 members from Food4Less and other bargaining units, our allies in labor, elected officials, union retirees, and friends from the community as we rally and protest for a fair contract at Food4Less 780 in Chula Vista.
The union contract for workers at Food 4 Less expired in March after the previous contract was extended one year due to COVID-19. These workers have been essential throughout the pandemic yet their company does not want to provide essential wages. Kroger, the parent company of F4L, has made record profits during the pandemic and spent $1.3 billion on stock buybacks!
Please support these essential workers by attending this demonstration. And, in the event of a strike, help us by not crossing any picket lines.Your solidarity is appreciated!
“Food4Less workers are essential to their company and community and they have been ravaged by COVID-19,” says Todd Walters, President of UFCW Local 135. “Kroger (Food4Less) made millions during the pandemic and now they refuse to give their workers a fair contract. We are calling on all of our allies to support this action!”
Rally speakers include UFCW Local 135 President Todd Walters, Brigette Browning, the newly elected Executive Secretary-Treasurer of San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council, a worker from Food4Less, and others TBD.
