National bargaining continues and there has been some healthy dialogue between Alliance of Health Care Unions and Kaiser negotiators. Real conversations are taking place that could have potential impact. Fingers crossed that some breakthrough movement will be made as union negotiators bargain steadfastly on behalf of our KP members. Though we wish for a fair deal to be made, we prepare as though one won’t be.
More than two dozen KP members have signed up for Thursday’s Picket Captain/Steward meeting at 7pm. We’d like to see more members step up to take on leadership responsibilities. This is your work future at stake. Contact your Union Rep for the registration link.
Picket signs are in the process of being printed and picket sticks are ready and waiting to be put together with their printed partner for Saturday’s lunchtime Picket Sign Making Party. Join us at noon as we prepare materials for the strike. Our Retirees Club will be grilling burgers and dogs and the media may show up to see us preparing for the fight. And we’ll be giving away free UFCW Local 135 t-shirts to all union volunteers!
We appreciate all of you that shared photos of each other this past Solidarity Tuesday. Actions like these go a long way in helping gain a new contract. Check out a few of the photos on Facebook:
Also, continue to reshare relevant social media posts by UFCW Local 135, the Alliance of Health Care Unions, and the member unions of the Alliance. The more our members share posts, the more eyeballs see our messaging. Sharing info with the public at large is important and we need all of you to keep doing so.
