Pharmacist Bargaining Update 7/2/26

It’s Time to Show the Companies We’re United

After two more days of bargaining, Albertsons/Vons and Ralphs continue to fall short of addressing the issues you have consistently raised throughout negotiations. Their latest proposal still does not reflect the value pharmacists bring to their patients, communities, and the success of the companies.

In addition to the slow pace at the bargaining table, we have raised concerns over actions taken by the companies during this contract campaign that have made bargaining more difficult. As a result, your Bargaining Committee believes it’s important to begin preparing for the next phase of the campaign.

On July 15-16, UFCW Local 135 pharmacists will have the opportunity to participate in an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) Strike Authorization Vote. The vote will take place electronically starting at 8am on Wednesday July 15 and will end at 6pm on Thursday, July 16.

A strike authorization vote does not mean a strike has been called. It gives your Bargaining Committee the ability to take further action if it becomes necessary and sends a strong message that pharmacists are united and committed to winning a fair contract.

Your participation is critical. A big turnout and a strong “YES” vote demonstrate that pharmacists are engaged, standing together, and prepared to support the bargaining process if additional action becomes necessary.

To help everyone understand what the vote means and what comes next, there will be an informational Zoom meeting for UFCW Local 135 pharmacists on Monday, July 13 at 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We’ll review the current status of negotiations, explain the ULP strike authorization process, discuss your rights, and answer your questions.

The more united you are, the stronger your Bargaining Committee’s position at the table. Thank you for continuing to stay informed, participate in the campaign, and stand together as we work toward the contract you have earned.
