UFCW Local 135 is a member union in the Alliance of Health Care Unions. Other unions include UNAC/UHCP, HNHP, IUOE, ILWU, IBT, OFNHP, UNITE HERE, and KPNNA. One of our Alliance partners, UNAC/UHCP, has issued a 10-day notice for an unfair labor practice strike at Kaiser Permanente beginning January 26. While we respect our Alliance partner, UFCW Local 135’s focus remains on reaching a fair contract through bargaining. A strike is a last resort option, and we feel there are more options to get a deal done, if KP returns to the table.
Currently, we have NOT issued a 10-day notice. Pharmacy members have given strike authorization but are not being called out yet, and Lab members will take their unfair labor practice strike vote January 22–23.
Our message to KP is clear: return to the bargaining table and negotiate in good faith.
