Day two of our ULP strike made one thing unmistakably clear: Kaiser Permanente workers are united, determined, and backed by the support of patients and the community.
This strike was never about walking away from your patients. It was about forcing Kaiser to confront its unlawful conduct and return to National Bargaining in good faith. The public pressure was immediate, visible, and impossible to ignore. Kaiser heard us.
Across Southern California, including strong showings right here in San Diego County, members stood shoulder to shoulder, holding the line and demanding that Kaiser stop delaying and start negotiating.
Here’s what you accomplished together on Day 2:
• Continued powerful action at facilities across San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura, and Kern Counties
• Thousands of workers and community allies joining the picket lines
• Sustained local, statewide, and national media coverage
• Growing social media engagement amplifying our message
• Ongoing solidarity from union siblings across California and beyond
After demonstrating your unity and resolve, you will return to work on Thursday, February 12 at 5:00 AM.
That means you should report to your regularly scheduled shift beginning at or after 5:00 AM on Thursday. If you are scheduled before 5:00 AM, do not report until that time. Resume your normal duties and continue providing the professional care your patients rely on.
Returning to work does not mean this fight is over. It means you showed your strength, applied pressure, and are prepared to escalate again if Kaiser refuses to do the right thing. The demand remains the same: return to National Bargaining and finish a fair agreement.
Though we return to work on Thursday, the strike is not over!
Picketing continues at San Diego Medical Center and San Marcos Medical Center tomorrow, Wednesday, February 11 from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Rain is in the morning forecast. Bring an umbrella and dress accordingly
Show up to either location. Sign in and out. Hold the line.
REMINDER: To qualify for strike benefits, members must be on the picket line for the required time. Signing in late, signing out early, or signing in and out for someone else may disqualify members from the benefit.
