Why We Are on a ULP Strike
This Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike is about accountability and respect. Kaiser Permanente has failed to bargain in good faith and finish the national agreement covering pharmacy and lab workers. Our strike is a lawful, protected response to Kaiser’s actions and a demand that Kaiser return to the table and complete a fair agreement that protects patients, workers, and our communities.
PARTICIPATION & SOLIDARITY
Do I have to participate in the ULP strike?
A ULP strike is a collective action. Strong, unified participation is critical to demonstrating solidarity and applying pressure on Kaiser to do the right thing and return to finish bargaining.
What if I choose not to strike or cross the picket line?
Crossing the picket line undermines our collective power and weakens our ability to bring Kaiser back to the table to finish national bargaining to win you safer staffing, fair wages, and respect. Members who cross the picket line may face internal union consequences consistent with UFCW Local 135’s by-laws and the UFCW International constitution.
What should I do if I am scheduled to work during the strike?
Members participating in the strike do not report to work. Instead, report to your assigned UFCW Local 135 picket line or follow instructions provided by your union representative.
Can Kaiser discipline or retaliate against me for striking?
No. Participation in a ULP strike is protected under federal labor law. Kaiser cannot lawfully discipline, terminate, or retaliate against members for engaging in protected strike activity.

Is picketing required?
Yes. Picketing or completing assigned strike duties is required to demonstrate unity and to qualify for strike benefits.

How many hours am I required to picket?
