DESCRIPTION:Please join UFCW Local 135 members from Food4Less and other bargaining units\, our allies in labor\, elected officials\, union retirees\, and friends from the community as we rally and protest for a fair contract at Food4Less 780 in Chula Vista. \nThe union contract for workers at Food 4 Less expired in March after the previous contract was extended one year due to COVID-19. These workers have been essential throughout the pandemic yet their company does not want to provide essential wages. Kroger\, the parent company of F4L\, has made record profits during the pandemic and spent $1.3 billion on stock buybacks! \nPlease support these essential workers by attending this demonstration and not patronizing Food 4 Less locations until a new contract is ratified. And\, in the event of a strike\, help us by not crossing any picket lines.Your solidarity is appreciated! \n“Food4Less workers are essential to their company and community and they have been ravaged by COVID-19\,” says Todd Walters\, President of UFCW Local 135. “Kroger (Food4Less) made millions during the pandemic and now they refuse to give their workers a fair contract. One in Mission Valley and the other in Escondido.\n\n\n\nOn Tuesday\, May 25 from 3-5pm we’ll be at Food 4 Less at Hazard Center in Mission Valley and then on Friday\, May 28 from 12-2pm we’ll be at Food 4 Less on N Broadway in Escondido.\n\n\n\nWe’re calling on all of our sisters and brothers in labor\, our friends that hold elected office\, our allies in the community\, and our members from other Local 135 bargaining units to join the workers at Food 4 Less for these two actions.\n\n\n\nWe will be picketing and holding a rally in the parking lots of both locations calling on the public to support these essential workers.\n\n\nJoin us in our just demands for a better contract and help us Fight4More!
