Today the Supreme Court in Janus v. AFSCME handed down a 5 to 4 decision against public sector unions. Fair share fees are no longer permitted although those who don’t join the union are covered by Collective Bargaining Agreements, making them Right to Work (for less) entities. Even though this currently only affects public sector unions, it is a blow to the entire labor movement. UFCW Local 135 stands in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the public sector.
On May 22, 2018 Alliance unions will begin coordinated bargaining for a new agreement with Kaiser Permanente. The intent of the Alliance of Health Care Unions has not changed: Alliance Unions are united in our commitment to bargain a full and fair contract for all of our members.
We have reached a tentative agreement with Food 4 Less. Review and voting on this proposal will take place at 8 a.m. or 6 p.m. on 10/16/2017 at UFCW Local 135. Thank you to all for standing strong, and for all community members who came out in support.
