When:             Monday, January 28, 11 a.m.

Background:   Members of several unions will join together to voice their opposition to Propositions 94, 95, 96 and 97.

The propositions, if passed, would expand casino gaming for four tribes.  These deals do not include basic worker protections for which all unions stand.

According to www.nounfairdeals.com, health coverage at one casino was so expensive for employees that 56 percent of the dependent children of casino workers were forced onto taxpayer-funded health care programs.

Organizations opposed to the propositions include the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council, the California Labor Federation, UNITE-HERE International Union, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, California Conference Board of the Amalgamated Transit Union, California Conference of Machinists, California Teamsters Public Affairs Council, SEIU California State Council, United Auto Workers Region 5, United Farm Workers of America and United Food Commercial Workers Western States Council.
