Washington, D.C. – The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) International Union released the following statement regarding the Haggen stores auction that is taking place this week.
“Representatives from UFCW Local Unions and UFCW International are at the auction for the 95 Haggen stores to strongly present their position that these stores need to be bought by responsible store owners to ensure that our members can continue to provide for their families and give customers the great service that they expect.
“Our Local Unions stand ready to partner with responsible companies who understand the tremendous value of our hard-working members. As they prove every day, our members are totally committed to their communities and are determined to give their customers and their families the better grocery store that they’ve been waiting for.
“While the hard-working men and women of Haggen’s have all been experiencing untold frustration and concern during these past few months, we will stand together and support one another through these difficult times. We are a family, and as a strong family, we will do everything in our power to help our members find the success that they’ve earned through their hard work and dedication.”
